Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) Receives Two Awards

Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) received two awards at the Ontario Public Library Association’s Super Conference on January 31, The Angus Mowat Award of Excellence and the Joyce Cunningham Award!

The Angus Mowat Award of Excellence recognizes VPL’s commitment to excellence in delivery of public library service. VPL won the award for its Customer Experience Model which embraces the best practices of customer service into one framework that empowers staff to take customer service to the next level. The model includes 6 key service concepts: Hospitality, Customer Service, Frontline Advocacy, Customer Empowerment, Merchandising, and WOW Moments. In 2017, more than 200 staff were recognized for creating and capturing WOW Moments across VPL.

The Vaughan Public Library Board received the Joyce Cunningham Award as the Public Library Board of the Year, which is presented to a Public Library Board that has demonstrated a high level of collaboration and innovation to produce outstanding results.
