The Don Valley Parkway has reopened after flooding caused closures on Monday night and into Tuesday morning.
The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority issued a flood watch warning at 8:15 p.m. Monday, attributing the excessive water to melting snow as the weather warmed after a week of sub-zero temperatures.
The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority issued a flood watch warning on Monday night and cautioned residents to avoid underpasses and low-lying areas.
“The recent warm temperatures and precipitation have caused widespread melting of the snowpack throughout the GTA watersheds,” the TRCA said in a statement, adding that water levels could continue to rise.
The TRCA said that people should be cautious around bodies of water and avoid travelling in low-lying areas and underpasses.
