Schomberg, Kleinburg and Markham had costliest homes sold in December

Georgina and Richmond Hill saw the most affordable homes sold last month, Zoocasa says

A luxury house on 80-plus acres of rolling hills in King Township was the most expensive home sold in York Region in December, according to real estate brokerage and website company Zoocasa.

The Schomberg home was listed just shy of $6 million and sold for $5.5 million.

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom house overlooks a five-acre spring-fed stocked pond, a gourmet kitchen, guest suite over the garage, a barn with four stalls, three calving pens and 12 paddocks.

Second on the list of most expensive houses sold in York Region last month was a 11,500 square-foot mansion on an acre lot in Vaughan backing on to the Kleinburg Golf and Country Club.

Marketed as an entertainer’s delight, the house was put on the market for $4.8 million and sold for $4.39 million.

Rounding out the top three costliest homes was a five-bedroom, five-bathroom house in Markham.

Listed for just under $4 million and selling for $3.5 million, the 6,400 sq. ft home comes with a heated salt water pool, a self-contained apartment and custom kitchen.

Meanwhile, homes sold in Georgina and Richmond Hill were the region’s most affordable residences sold last month.

The least costly home was sold in Pefferlaw.

Listed for just under $300,000 and selling for $250,000, the brick bungalow on a manicured lot features a fenced backyard, large deck, an eat-in kitchen and combined living room/dining room.

A one-bedroom condo in Richmond Hill was the second most affordable home sold in the region in December.

Centrally located in a luxury building, the unit has an open concept layout, a balcony and a den.

A two-bedroom bungalow in Georgina, which was listed for $339,900 and sold for $315,000, was the third most affordable home sold.

Located in a quiet lakeside community offering three beaches and a boat launch, the house offers a new steel roof and a view of Lake Simcoe from inside and out.

Zoocasa released information about house sales in York Region as the Toronto Real Estate Board announced house sales in the Greater Toronto Area dropped 16 per cent in 2018 compared to 2017.
