Power outage impacts large area in Thornhill near Steeles Avenue

2,622 homes, businesses without power after hydro pole falls

A large power outage in Vaughan caused by a falling hydro pole on Steeles Avenue has left 2,622 homes and businesses without power.

The power outage has impacted a portion of Thornhill between Yonge and Dufferin streets and Steeles and Centre Street.

Vaughan Fire has responded to the scene and many traffic lights in the area are not working.

Alectra crews are working to fix the problem. They expect the power to be back online some time between 3 and 5 p.m.
