I am looking forward to 2019 and the promise of the future and the possibilities it holds.

Your new Aurora town council has already begun getting down to work, eager to bring our shared vision of Aurora to life.

Our town is growing and with that inevitably comes change. The next four years represent a pivotal point in Aurora’s history and the choices we make will impact our town for generations to come. Growth and development are important, but doing so in a way that defends our official plan is crucial.

We are moving forward with several key initiatives that will help build community and ensure Aurora continues to be a vibrant and livable town.

We’ve talked for years about making our downtown core that hub of energy, culture and commerce, while preserving and promoting our unique heritage. During the last term of council important decisions were made about transforming Library Square into a central gathering space. We will continue this work, with digging set to commence in early 2020.

In 2019, you'll also see plenty of changes around Town Park. In an exciting partnership with the Canadian Food and Wine Institute at Niagara College, the historic Aurora Armoury is undergoing a restoration that will result in a world-class training facility and community space.

I look forward to sharing our progress in this monthly column and invite you to reach out to me to share your thoughts, ideas or concerns.
