Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visits Christmas at the Carousel event in Markham

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a surprise visit on Dec. 13 to the second annual Christmas at the Carousel at the Pride of Canada Carousel in Markham during a live CTV Toy Mountain broadcast.

"It was a really fantastic experience for our band," said Mark Caswell, head of music at Markham District High School.

"How are we ever going to top that?" said Maggie Birtch, music teacher at Parkview Public School. "The kids are still floating and so are the parents!"

The Remington Group was the event presenter and one of the community members involved in the celebration that supported Toy Mountain. Other members of the community that came together to celebrate the season and support Toy Mountain included:

• The African Drum band from Parkview Public School

• The Wind Symphony band from Markham District High School

• The Markham Skating Club

• Markham Fire and Emergency Services

• Markham Salvation Army

• Markham-area No Frills stores (event sponsor)
