Scammers get more creative and sinister as they pretend to be a group that's entirely non-existent.

Vaughan Fire on Tuesday, Dec. 19, warned citizens on Twitter of fraudsters who call themselves the “Canadian Firefighter Association” with – telephone #905-754-4867 – “asking for donations in a somewhat, pressuring manner.”

One glaring mistake these scammers have made so far is that there is no such group in Canada

Vaughan Fire urged citizens to contact York police to report if they have received any of these disturbing calls.

We’ve received reports from concerned citizens saying they have received calls from the “Canadian Firefighter Association” – telephone #905-754-4867 – asking for donations in a somewhat, pressuring manner. Please contact @YRP to report concerning calls

Police told York Region Media that the scam is similar to other infamous ones like the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), which requests personal information such as a social insurance number, credit card number, bank account number or passport number to intimidate and rob people.
