Royal Canadian Legion Mackenzie Branch 414 is hosting a Remembrance Day service Sunday, Nov. 11 at the Woodbridge cenotaph.

Members of the public are welcome to attend.

A parade from the Woodbridge fire hall to the cenotaph, located on Wallace Street, starts at 10:30 a.m.

The ceremony will commence at approximately 11 a.m. followed by refreshments at the legion hall, located at 60 Legion Court Rd. south of Hwy. 7 off Islington Ave.

In the week leading up to Remembrance Day, the city is honouring Canadian soldiers who gave their lives in battle by inviting visitors to city hall and city staff to make a donation to the Poppy Fund and post a paper poppy with a personal message on the wall in the atrium where they will be displayed until Nov. 11.

Donations to the Poppy Fund are placed in trust to be used for the care and support of veterans and their dependents.

City hall, 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr., is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
