The priciest homes in York Region in October sold in Vaughan Richmond Hill and Aurora, while the most affordable houses were on the market in Georgina.
That information from estate brokerage and website company Zoocasa comes as the Toronto Real Estate Board released its sales figures for October.
A house in Vaughan was the most expensive home sold in York Region in October.
The mansion was listed for $4.29 million and sold for $3.9 million.
On a cul-de-sac, the house on more than one acre came with a feng shui certificate and two wealth centres, a gourmet kitchen, walkout to a deck and parking for eight cars.
The second priciest home sold in Richmond Hill for $3.88 million, about $408,000 less than the asking price of $4.29 million.
It featured a three-car garage, an elevator, a gym and steam showers.
Rounding out the top three was a house in Aurora, which was listed for $4.5 million and sold for $3.6 million.
It included a chef’s kitchen, two ensuite bathrooms in the master suite, an inlaw or staff apartment and an indoor pool.
Three buyers found affordable homes in Georgina last month.
The least expensive house, on Georgina Island, went for $106,000 and featured direct lakefront access to Lake Simcoe.
Meanwhile, a “beloved cottage” close to Willow Beach sold for $239,900, while a three-bedroom cottage steps to the lake went for $245,000.
TREB numbers show 1,164 homes sold in York Region last month, up 18.4 per cent compared to September and up 8.5 per cent over October, 2017.
Meanwhile, the average price of a house in York Region in October was $917,000, a 1.4-per cent increase over September and 7.8 per cent higher than October, 2017.
While still below the record-breaking sales in 2016, the numbers indicate sales in the region are bouncing back from provincial legislation that chilled the market, Zoocasa managing editor Penelope Graham said.
“The York Region market arguably felt the brunt of these new housing policies, especially among the priciest segments, such as detached houses for sale,” she said in an email.
“With sales and prices recording positive gains both annually and month-over-month, stabilization is returning to the market.”
“The freedoms Canadians enjoy today are owed to the sacrifices made by our brave armed forces, who contribute to the cause of freedom throughout the world. From Vimy Ridge and Juno Beach, to the Korean War and Afghanistan, as well as in peacekeeping missions around the world, Canadian peacekeepers have worked to protect our values. There are approximately 600,300 Canadian Armed forced veterans alive today, including approximately 50,300 Canadian Second World War veterans and 7,700 Korean War veterans.
“Remembrance Day is a reminder to pause, reflect and show gratitude to everyone who served, to the people who continue to serve, and to give special recognition and thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our community and our nation.
“The poppy is a symbol of honour that we wear to give thanks and show respect to those who fought, those who lost their lives and those who still defend our country today. The City of Vaughan, with the help of the community, is once again proud to create a poppy mural to commemorate those who have given so much for Canada. I invite everyone to write a message on a poppy and pay tribute to the service people who have safeguarded the liberties we cherish. Thank you.”
