Lest we forget.

You can honour the great sacrifice and dedicated service of our veterans and current soldiers during a number of Remembrance Day parades and services being held in Georgina.

Nov. 8: Letters Home, a Remembrance at the Link

Discover the stories of First World War soldiers during an evening of readings, photos and music inspired by the letters written home from the front lines. Letters Home, a Remembrance at the Link is organized by Sandy Day, author of Fred’s Funeral and Alana Barker Shields, director of ImprovAbility!, in collaboration with the Link, Georgina Pioneer Village and Archives, the Georgina Public Library and the Georgina Military Museum. It takes place Nov. 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Link. Admission: $20 plus HST (includes a copy of Fred’s Funeral).

Nov. 9: York Regional Police #3 District Remembrance Day Ceremony

YRP’s seventh annual Remembrance Day ceremony pays respect and gratitude to the serving and previous members of our armed forces who have sacrificed for our country. Ceremony runs from 11 a.m. to noon at 3 District, 3527 Baseline Rd., Sutton.

Nov. 11: Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day parades and services take place in Keswick, Sutton and Pefferlaw on Nov. 11.

The Keswick parade begins at 10:15 a.m. at Keswick Public School, 25 the Queensway N., and proceeds to the new cenotaph location at the Stephen Leacock Theatre, 130 Gwendolyn Blvd. The service begins at 11 a.m.

The Sutton Remembrance Day service begins at 11 a.m. at the High Street cenotaph.

The service in Pefferlaw begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Pefferlaw Lions Community Centre.
