Traffic on Yonge Street will be reduced to one lane in both directions to accommodate road pavement between Highway 407 and Carrville Road/16th Avenue from Friday to Monday.
vivaNext crews will be working 24-7, starting from 7 p.m. on Nov. 2 to 7 a.m. on Nov. 5 to pave the east side of Yonge Street, reducing the corridor to one northbound and one southbound lane during the period of work.
The roadwork will impact most of accesses to the side streets.
Drivers can only make right turns when entering and exiting most of the side streets and driveways. Some side streets will be temporarily closed for the duration of this work.
There will be no left turns onto Yonge, onto each of the side streets, or into business driveways with the exception of Scott Drive/Bantry Avenue and Carrville/16th.
The Yonge Connector Road and High Tech Road will be intermittently closed for several hours at a time as crews are working in the area.
Dalemount Gate and driveways east of Yonge will remain closed for the duration of this work.
Access to businesses and properties west of Yonge will be fully maintained from side streets, however access from Yonge will be limited at times.
Northbound bus stop No. 2351, No. 2470 and No. 2471 will be temporarily closed for the duration of this work. Directional signs will guide pedestrians to the nearest open bus stop.
YRT buses will be detoured around the ongoing work.
Paid duty police officers will be on-site to direct traffic for the duration of this work.
Detour signs will be in place to guide motorists and pedestrians around the paving operation.
Due to the nature of this work, there will be construction-related noise and dust from equipment and trucks.
Drivers are advised to allow more time to get to their destination, and reduce speed through construction zones.
Paving is heavily dependent on good dry weather and specific temperatures. If the weather does not permit, paving operations will be postponed.
