York Region is offering support to expectant and new parents, through Health Connection.
The region has launched a campaign to spread the word about free and confidential health advice that expectant and new parents can receive from York Region Public Health through a telephone information line.
Expectant and new parents can call Health Connection to speak with public health professionals and receive information about pregnancy, breastfeeding, parenting, child growth and development, as well as mental health support.
The nurse-family partnership is a no-cost program where public health nurses visit young, first-time mothers in their home during pregnancy and throughout the first two years of the child’s life.
Expectant and new mothers can book an appointment with a breastfeeding clinic to ask questions or receive tips for infant feeding.
The Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program is a visiting program where eligible parents are connected with a public health nurse and a family visitor who will guide them through information, support and connections to community resources.
The Transition to Parenting group helps new parents adjust to parenthood.
Health Connection also provides information on other public health-related topics, resources, services and community programs, including infectious disease, sexual health, sexually transmitted infection, health protection and dental health.
