Kick off the holiday season with a tradition that captures the heart of both young and old -- the annual Main Street Christmas in Schomberg.
Main Street Schomberg will be closed Dec. 1 starting at 3 p.m.
The magic happens twice, once with a parade down Main Street at 4 p.m. and again at 8 p.m.
The afternoon parade features several community groups, bands and decorated floats.
The second parade is a cavalcade of tractors, harvesters and muckers decorated with twinkle lights.
Following the parade, residents are invited to the annual craft show in the historic community hall on Main Street.
Just the Facts:
- Date: Dec. 1
- Time: 3 to 9 p.m. The Santa Claus parade starts at 4 p.m. and the Farmers Parade of Lights starts at 8 p.m.
- Admission: $5 per adult, includes admission to the annual craft show.
- Route: The parade, which is less than a kilometre, starts at the Schomberg Community and Agricultural Arena, 251 Weston Ave., continues east to Main Street and south on Main Street to Church Street.
- Road Closures: Main Street will be closed from Dr. Kay Drive to Church Street starting at 3 p.m.
- Parking: There will be a free shuttle running from 3 to 9 p.m. from the Brownsville Plaza, 17250 Highway 27, and from the Trisan Centre, 25 Dillane Dr.
- Gifts for Blue Door Shelter users, including new unwrapped toys, gift cards and gifts for male youths such as new hoodies and backpacks, will be collected during the parade.
