When it comes to public swimming and skating, where you live makes all the difference in what you pay.

Adult public swimming rates across the region range from $3 in Newmarket to double that in Whitchurch-Stouffville.

Adult public skating rates range from $1 an hour in Georgina to $5.75 in Vaughan.

Not only where you live matters – even though municipalities do not charge a non-resident drop-in fee – but your age could matter as well.

But not all municipalities charge by age. Aurora, Georgina and King Township charge the same price for public skating no matter what age.

Meanwhile, Markham, Vaughan and Richmond Hill have lower fees for seniors compared to the general adult admission. But those discounted senior rates are still higher than rates in other municipalities.

On the other end of the age spectrum, infants or tots are free in several municipalities including Whitchurch-Stouffville, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Vaughan and Richmond Hill.

The other municipalities, such as Newmarket, Aurora, King Township, East Gwillimbury and Georgina charge a nominal fee for infants or tots.

Aurora is the only municipality that charges the same admission fee for every age group.

Newmarket and Markham are the only municipalities that charge the same admission fee for both public swimming and public skating.
