November 1, 2018

On October 19, 2018, over 1100 guests attended Galalicious. Proceeds from this sold-out event allow Hospice Vaughan to continue providing the community with much needed support and care. Special thanks to the evening's presenting sponsor, The Carpenters' Union. With the incredible generosity of the Cortellucci family and all capital donors, construction of Hospice Vaughan - The Mario & Nick Cortellucci Hospice Palliative Care Centre of Excellence has begun. Scheduled to open late 2019, this facility will include a 10-bed residential hospice, family support and bereavement services, and visiting hospice services; and will serve as a community hub that will support research and educate on palliative care best practices. Our community’s continued support is a testament to the kindness and compassion of its’ residents. Hospice Vaughan’s “Better Ending” capital campaign reminds us that everyone deserves a good death, surrounded by family in a peaceful and caring environment. For generations to come, the new Hospice Vaughan will provide many in the community with the help they need when they are at their most vulnerable.

Hospice Vaughan’s Galalicious celebrated “Lock In Your Love For Hospice”, where patrons purchased unique heart locks permanently locked onto steel heart structures to be placed in the Hospice Vaughan Residence gardens. Like its name sake, Galalicious served up sumptuous food and was hosted by John Catucci, former host of Food Networks “You Gotta Eat Here”. Throughout the evening guests participated in a myriad of events from the silent auction to “heads or tails”, to mystery take out boxes. Truly a successful event. A special thanks to the many volunteers who worked endlessly to make Galalicious a success. Stay tuned and see you all next year!
