Richmond Hill municipal election 2018: Advance voting opens this weekend

Richmond Hill residents who want to get a jump on casting their votes for the upcoming municipal election will get their first chance starting Oct. 6.

Advance polling stations will open at multiple locations on the following dates, Oct. 6-7 and Oct. 13-17 across Richmond Hill. Early-bird voters and those who cannot make it on the voting day on Oct. 22 can choose to vote any of the advance vote locations.

On this coming weekend (Oct. 6-7) and the following weekend (Oct. 13-14), eligible voters in Richmond Hill can fill out their ballots at any of the following six locations from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.:

On Oct. 15-17, you can vote at any of the following two locations from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Before heading to the polls, voters need to make sure that they have voter notification card (if received) and one piece of identification with names and addresses on it (for example, a driver’s licence) or two pieces of identification – the first listing their name and the second their addresses (for example, an Ontario Health Card and Statement of Old Age Security).

A Canadian passport is not an acceptable piece of identification.

For anyone who plans to vote on the voting day – Monday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., go to www.richmondhill.ca to find out the closest polling station to your home by entering your address.

Voters will elect a mayor, two regional and local councillors, six ward councillors (one acclaimed) and school trustees for the next term of office from Dec. 1, 2018 to Nov. 14, 2022.
