On Wednesday Oct. 17, Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area opened its doors to their new ReStore in the Markham east community. The organization was joined by Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti and members of the community for the grand opening event. Habitat GTA operates 12 ReStores, and the new location at 20 Fincham Ave. marks the third store opening in York Region this year. Markham residents are encouraged to visit the store to shop, donate, and volunteer.

In support of their homebuilding, Habitat for Humanity GTA operates retail home improvement stores called Habitat ReStore. The 12 locations across the GTA sell new and used donated home furnishings, appliances, and renovation materials to the public at a fraction of the original price. Habitat ReStore collects donations from the community, and proceeds from sales help cover the cost to build homes for families in need of safe, decent, and affordable housing.
