Hello. My name is Brian Sankarsingh and I am running in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville for the position of councillor in Ward 4.

My background is originally in corporate banking with 11 years of experience working with public corporations, lawyers and regulators. I have a corporate banking designation of specialist, trust institute. More recently, I have worked with the Alliance of Healthier Communities for almost a decade predominantly in project management, change management, communication and governance. I am a registered professional trainer, a member of the Canadian Management Professional Association. I am registered with the Ministry of Labour as a certified member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. I have successfully completed anti-oppression and cultural competency training. I have also completed the Level 1 course of the National Indigenous Cultural Safety Learning. My volunteer work extends from the board chair of a heritage house in Toronto, a board member on the 19 On the Park and a member of the town appeals committee. I will be drawing on my wealth of experience in all of these areas during my time in office.

It is time for our town to refocus. On our residents-- who have lost confidence in the accountability and transparency of leadership. On our staff-- to re-establish a happy, diverse, competent and incentivized workforce. On our town corporation-- with the development of a town scoreboard. This would be an easy way for town residents to understand and gauge the work council is doing. To know what matters, we must measure its progress. What gets measured, gets managed.  We need to set defined, measurable and quantifiable targets in every part of the town corporation and then measure against them. A simple resident-facing dashboard of council’s long- and short-term plans and how they are proceeding will help to engage residents.

I look forward to working with the residents of Ward 4 and residents of the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. Please feel free to connect with me in any of the follow ways.
