Winter, spring, summer, or fall, the East Gwillimbury Public Library wants to encourage families to get outside. Yes, you read that right. We don’t just deal in books you know.
The library is proud to announce the release of our brand-new nature backpacks, an item for borrowing that contains everything a child needs to start learning outside. The bag does have a few books, but also trail guides, laminated activity sheets, and either a magnifying glass, binoculars, or a compass. Each backpack has a different theme, such as winter, creepy crawly critters, or things with wings. For example, the winter theme features a list of winter-time animals and how to find and recognize their footprints, as well as an interesting guide to the different structures a snowflake can appear in. Place a hold on egpl.ca today or come on down to the library to take a look at the different themes and items these backpacks hold!
This community is a beautiful one, and it’s about time we joined our children in getting out and appreciating it. Don’t be afraid to bring these books outside - the point is to learn the old-fashioned way, up-close and personal.
