The Oct. 22 municipal election is right around the corner. There’s one last chance to see the Whitchurch-Stouffville mayoral candidates onstage together.

The Stouffville Chamber of Commerce will host a mayoral candidates debate on Monday, Oct. 15, at Eastridge Evangelical Missionary Church, starting at 7 p.m.

Four individuals have thrown their hat in the ring in the race for mayor. The contenders are former NHL player Keith Acton, incumbent Mayor Justin Altmann, local businessperson and active volunteer Anand Daté, and current Ward 5 Coun. Iain Lovatt.

The debate format will allow each candidate equal time to introduce themselves. Following introductions, there will be a series of prepared questions that each candidate may answer. This segment will then be followed by questions from the audience before each is asked to sum up their platform.

The entire event will be broadcast on Whistle Radio and the MC will be Whistle Radio host Patty Tamlin. It is free of charge and open to the public.

The event presents an opportunity for residents to assess the qualifications of each candidate. The individual who possesses the best skills in leadership, conciliation, integrity and vision will be determining factors in the outcome of the race.
