My name is Glenn Wittenberg and I'm running for councillor in Georgina Ward 1.
After graduating high school, I entered the glazing trade and completed glazing courses at Ryerson University.
After working for a few glazing companies, I started my own business in 2000.
In 2004, I opened Newmarket Glass and in 2013 decided to turn it into a home-based mobile business in Georgina.
Serving the community's glass needs for the past five years from this area, I have been able to listen to my clients and see for myself some concerns.
There has been an increase in aggressive drivers in the Lake Drive South area and around the schools.
We have one of the highest mill rates in York Region and the tax base ratio of residential to business taxes is not balanced enough.
The town is committing to some very large expenditures, which require closer examination.
As your councillor in Ward 1, I will advocate more safety measures implemented in Ward 1. Safer roads, safer school areas and safer neighbourhoods, with neighbourhood watch programs implemented.
As Ward 1’s representative, I will scrutinize expenditures and work toward reducing the mill rate in Georgina.
With the growth and changes coming to Georgina we need a strong leader to listen to the people and face these coming challenges.
With my life experiences and strong business sense, I offer myself as Ward 1 councillor. With a fresh face and fresh ideas on town council, together we can continue to make Georgina a place to live, work and prosper.
