A series of four road closures are coming over the next four weekends in Markham, Vaughan and King as railway crossing improvements are carried out.
The railway crossings are being upgraded by Canadian Pacific Railway, Canadian National Railway and Metrolinx.
The first two road closings are in Markham, with York Durham Line south of 16th Avenue closed from Friday, Sept. 21 to Sunday, Sept. 23, while work on the crossing is carried out.
From Friday, Sept. 28 to Sunday, Sept. 30, Ninth Line north of Steeles Avenue will be closed.
In Vaughan, Teston Road east of Keele Street will be closed from Friday, Oct. 5 to Sunday, Oct. 7.
And in King Township, Dufferin Street north of King Road will be closed from Friday, Oct. 12 to Sunday, Oct. 14.
There will be detour route signs in place so drivers will be able to avoid the closures. York Region, which is co-ordinating the closures with CN, CP, and Metrolinx, said it has scheduled them to take place to “minimize impacts.”
