My name is Millad Hamidkohzad and I am the right candidate for the position of city councillor in Ward 1 of Vaughan. Why, you may ask? The answer is simple. I will bring real change to Vaughan. No longer will this seat of public office be filled by an opportunist but will be taken by someone with ambition and the right energy to push Vaughan into the future. Yes, it's true that the candidates running against me may have more experience or more of a professional background. On the contrary, given the fact that I am 19, I have unparalleled determination that comes with a young mind and fresh ideas as well as unbiased views and no political baggage. One of the biggest problems I am trying to fix is the disconnect between politicians and people. I am starting to reconnect this missing link by going door to door throughout all of Ward 1 to meet every voter face to face, so they know who they are voting for and don’t just know me because of my name on a ballot. When elected, I will tackle many issues, some of which include affordable housing, building a smart city and creating a youth development program. I have received countless emails from the day I was nominated from citizens asking me to create affordable housing if elected and they have been heard, as it is part of my platform. I plan on transforming Vaughan into a smart city driving economic growth and optimizing and enhancing city functions using data analysis and smart technologies. Lastly, creating a youth development program. I saw many problems facing teens that parents do not know about, and which our city does nothing about. I witnessed the deleterious effects drugs have on teens and the trafficking of substances and even firearms throughout schools, a behaviour that must stop. When elected, I will champion these issues and many more.
