As a father, a businessperson, and a councillor, Iain Lovatt understands that successful leadership involves listening to the perspectives of others, making informed decisions, and working together toward common goals. There are important challenges ahead, as well as great opportunities for the people of Whitchurch-Stouffville - opportunities that can only be realized with a unified council and strong, experienced leadership.
Iain has over 25 years of business management experience. In addition to his charity and volunteer work, Iain co-founded and managed a number of successful technology companies. Staying true to his entrepreneurial roots, Iain and his wife, Mary, were part of a team that opened Main Street Bakehouse in downtown Stouffville.
Iain was first elected as Ward 5 councillor in 2014, and currently serves as deputy mayor. Iain is also an active member of the special events advisory committee, the heritage advisory committee, the Downtown Stouffville Working Group, the street and watercourse naming committee, and the main street reconstruction advisory committee.
Iain cares deeply about his community, and as mayor of Whitchurch-Stouffville he will ensure that council is unified and able to work productively toward a number of goals, including:
