For the past 30 years, my leadership in building effective partnerships and bringing about positive growth has created a legacy of championing issues that matter to the people of Vaughan.
During my tenure as executive director of the Elspeth Heyworth Centre for Women, I introduced the award-winning Reduce Abuse program which has assisted over 1,500 women facing domestic violence. This successful social enterprise helped more than 900 language-tested interpreters earn their livelihood. In recognition of my dedication, I was awarded the Mayor’s Community Safety Award, Attorney General’s Victim Services Award of Distinction and the Leading Women Building Communities Award.
I was also awarded a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and the 2014 York West Centennial Citation for my outstanding community commitment and dedication. These accolades were due in part to my previous involvement as a member of ETA Vaughan Women’s Shelter and Outreach Centre, Healthcare Interpretation Network, mayor’s task force on women’s shelter needs, advisory committee for self-employment development initiative and chair of the advisory council for Vaughan Community Health Centre.
Since June 2017, serving as your local and regional councillor, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to listening to your concerns, thoughts and ideas. I continue to advocate for you and serve you as an active member of Housing York, the older adults strategy task force, human resources task force, Vaughan metropolitan centre subcommittee, Vaughan Holdings Inc., and the Vaughan Community Health Centre.
My plans for the future include:
I continue to be a strong voice for the people of Vaughan. Let’s build the new rising Vaughan together!
