Explore the Markham Fire Station 97, the Markham Village Train Station, or the Rouge River Brewing Company on Sat. Sept. 22.
Doors Open Markham is a free, family-friendly annual community-wide event that showcases Markham's places of historical and cultural interest: featuring locations that are not usually open to the public. It allows visitors to explore the city’s unique and sometimes hidden architectural treasures.
The event’s sites will likely appeal to a wide audience. Children will love the Markham train station and fire hall. Architecture enthusiasts can marvel at the modernist architecture of the Wong Dai Sin Temple and the new Aanin Community Centre and Library. Or, enjoy Markham’s past when you visit the historic Thornhill Village Library and the McKay Art Centre. You can check out the Ladies Golf Club of Toronto, founded by women for women in 1924. Doors Open Markham is organized under the direction of a council-appointed committee of city staff, municipal councillors, and community volunteers. This event is one of a series of Doors Open events held across the province under the organizational umbrella of the Ontario Heritage Trust - Doors Open Ontario.
Doors Open Markham is Saturday, Sept. 22 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
