Here are some quick facts about my candidacy:
- I grew up in King City and I am raising my family here
- I was first elected in 2006 and was acclaimed in both the 2010, and 2014 elections
- I worked for the King Township engineering department from 2004 to 2006
- I possess a comprehensive understanding of the complex issues facing King Township
- I believe volunteering in the ward broadens one’s perspective on the unique characteristics of a community and better prepares a candidate for the role of councillor.
- Prior to my election in 2006, I volunteered for several years in the following capacities:
- Coached in the King City Hockey Association
- Served on the King Township heritage committee
- Served on the King City citizens' advisory committee
- I hold a B.A. in English literature from Trent University, and have 30 plus years in the civil engineering/land development profession.
- I am also a certified member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.
The role of councillor is complex and intellectually demanding and requires empathy, patience, and strong communications skills to effectively explain complex issues.I believe my educational and professional backgrounds, and my 12 years of council experience uniquely positions me as the strongest candidate for the next term of council.
In the coming term I will work with my council colleagues to:
- Attract more industry like Magna International
- Continue to control greenfield and village core development
- Continue efforts to calm traffic in our neighbourhoods
- Stabilize property taxes
- Support appropriate, complementary development
- Maintain and upgrade our rural roads

- Advocate for the distribution of natural gas to rural areas
- Advocate for distribution of broadband internet to service our rural homes and businesses
