Bayview Avenue lane closures in Richmond Hill to last until November

Closures will be adjusted throughout each day to account for traffic flow

Commuters will have to navigate temporary lane restrictions for the next two months while the Region of York makes improvements to Bayview Avenue in Richmond Hill.

Lanes will be reduced on Bayview from Major Mackenzie Drive to Elgin Mills Road between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. beginning Sept. 10. The reductions will occur on only a few hundred metres of road on any one day, with the location moving throughout the construction period.

Two southbound lanes and one northbound lane will be open between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

One lane in each direction will be open between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Two northbound lanes and one southbound lane will be open between 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Construction is expected to wrap up in November.

Road improvements include:

• removing existing asphalt and repaving with new asphalt;

• repairing curbs, catch basins and maintenance holes; and

• upgrading crosswalks to meet the new Access for Ontarians with Disabilities Act requirements.
