The ceremonial ribbon was finally cut on the new Pefferlaw Ice Pad roof during the PAR Picnic in Pefferlaw Monday, Aug. 6.

A federal grant of $315,000 went toward the project's overall cost that ended up totalling just over $1 million.

“We appreciate this investment, knowing that the improvements to this popular Georgina attraction will allow even more people to take advantage of the outdoor rink and picnic area,” Mayor Margaret Quirk said, adding council takes pride in the town’s many facilities and the positive impact they have.

“As a growing community, we understand the importance of providing opportunities for our residents to stay active and enjoy the outdoors."

The pre-engineered roof structure also boasts an improved lighting system, paved aprons and a water supply system for firefighting purposes.
