The elections signs of Justin Altmann and the slate of C3 candidates that adorned the old Ringwood Restaurant had a little more than three days of fame before they were removed by town bylaw officials Tuesday.

According to the town, a complaint was filed indicating the signs violated the town’s election sign bylaw. The property, which was to be the future site of the C3 campaign office, was not zoned for office use. According to the town, given the location at the southwest corner of Hwy. 48 and Stouffville Road was not suitable for a campaign office, all were in breach of the bylaw stating election signs cannot be erected before Sept. 24.

Justin Altmann could not be reached for comment by deadline, however, the C3 Facebook Group wrote: "We’ve been told that our signs have been confiscated by the town and will not be returned until AFTER the election."

Altmann and C3 weren’t the only ones with sign issues.

Mayoral candidate Anand Date removed his sign at his campaign office on Main Street after there were concerns it didn’t conform to the bylaw and Ward 3 council candidate Hugo Kroon posted on Facebook that he took down his campaign office sign after senior staff suggested the sign, and others like it, may in fact not be compliant.
