Starting in 2020, you’ll be able to stay overnight in Canada’s Wonderland -- and it won’t even be against the park’s rules.

That’s because the Vaughan amusement park will be home to its first ever hotel when the Hyatt Place-Hyatt House hotel opens for business.

Representatives of the 38-year-old park's parent company, Cedar Fair, announced the groundbreaking news the morning of Aug. 27.

"The new dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House will continue Cedar Fair’s significant investment in Canada’s Wonderland, one of the portfolio’s largest and most successful parks," Cedar Park CEO and president Richard Zimmerman said. "We expect strong attendance growth there, driven by the introduction of a new record-breaking roller-coaster, Yukon Striker, and addition of an immersive holiday event, WinterFest, both launching in 2019."

The eight-storey hotel will feature 203 rooms, be located on a 16-acre parcel of land, include a 24-hour fitness centre, business centre, outdoor sun deck and other amenities.

It’s expected that construction on the hotel will begin in the first half of 2019, with an anticipated opening in late 2020.
