Brampton Transit announced significant changes to its route system last week, as well as a reduction to child fare rates.

Starting Sept. 4, the per-trip Presto fare rate for children aged six-12 will be reduced from $2.50 to $2. A child’s weekly pass will be reduced from $27 to $22, while the monthly Presto rate will fall to $84 from the current cost of $105.

In addition to the fare reduction, Brampton Transit announced four new routes being added starting Sept. 4. They include:

The 501 Züm Queen, which currently ends at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Rapidway Station with direct connections to the TTC subway, will no longer operate to York University. However, the 501A/C Züm Queen route will continue to service York University with extra service hours added.

The September service improvements also include a large number of schedule changes to existing routes. Visit bramptontransit.com for a full listing of all schedule adjustments.

The service upgrades are part of Brampton Transit’s Customer Charter initiative, which includes the addition of 65,000 service hours this year. According to a release sent by the city on Aug. 13, the majority of those service hours are being added through the Sept. 4 service improvements.

The next round of service improvements is slated for Oct. 29.
