A traffic switch on Hwy. 27 has moved vehicles to the west side at the intersection with King Road starting Aug. 9, as the east side of road closes to accommodate roadwork.

The east side closure extends from south of Parkview Avenue to north Wilsen Road to allow for road improvement works such as new curb installation, road widening, sidewalk updating and streetscaping.

The traffic will be maintained on the west side until the completion of the construction in the fall of this year.

The construction work is part of York Region’s Hwy. 27 and King Road intersection improvement project, which started this April.

The project is expected to expand the transportation system to accommodate growth in travel demand and improve transit, walking and cycling facilities.

Paid duty police are present to help direct traffic, according to Richard So, senior project manager of York Region’s transportation services department.
