A Vaughan home was badly damaged in a blaze on Thursday morning as more than 20 Vaughan firefighters rushed to the scene to put out the fire in the Keele Street and Hwy. 7 area.
The fire at 17 Gemma Crt. is estimated to have caused at least $500,000 in damage.
Just one person was home at the time and platoon chief Brian Culp said the man was “alerted by the smoke detectors and was in the backyard when we arrived.”
“We knocked it (fire) down fairly quickly,” Culp said, conceding the fire was “still bad.”
The Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating the blaze.
