York Region Events: 5 places to watch free movies

Catch a flick in Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, Georgina and East Gwillimbury

1. Curl up and watch a film under the stars during Moonlight Movies in Richmond Hill. Catch a free flick every Wednesday in a different location in Richmond Hill. Movies start at sunset, and pre-fun begins at 7 p.m. On Aug. 15, enjoy Paddington 2 at Bond Lake Arena.

2. Catch all the excitement of Wonder Woman during Aurora’s Movies in the Park. The fun happens Aug. 16 at Aurora Town Park beginning at 7:30 p.m. Arrive early for some pre-movie activities. Event is free but food donations welcome.

3. Bring a blanket or comfy chair and enjoy a film at the Jackson’s Point Parkette Aug. 18 beginning at 7 p.m. This event is put on by the Jackson’s Point Business Improvement Area. Movie TBA.

 

4. Enjoy an outdoor movie every week at various parks in Newmarket with popcorn provided by the Newmarket Scouts. On Aug. 14 watch Wonder at Ken Sturgeon Park. Movie beings about 8:30 p.m.

5. Unwind with a movie at the East Gwillimbury Library, Holland Landing Branch. Movie to be voted on by users on Facebook. Open to all ages on Aug. 17 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
