In celebration of Canada Day, LEGO Canada was at Vaughan Mills mall on June 28 inspiring visitors to create patriotic LEGO builds, with a parallel online contest that launched June 27. LEGOLAND at Discovery Centre Toronto tried to secure the Guinness world records title for the Largest LEGO Brick Flag by building a massive 20-by-10-foot Canadian flag at the attraction from Monday, June 25 to Thursday, June 28. The larger-than-life flag was built from nearly 250,000 LEGO bricks and weighed 1,100 lb. The existing Guinness world records title for the Largest LEGO Brick Flag is held by Oman Avenues Mall, in Oman, for a 7-by-13 ft. flag built in 2017. Visitors had the opportunity to be a part of the experience by engraving their name into a LEGO brick, which will be showcased on a plaque by the colossal flag. All proceeds were donated to child-focused charity, Merlin’s Magic Wand.
