Aurora drivers should take note of upcoming road projects and plan alternative routes to avoid delays.

The closure of Orchard Heights Boulevard from Whispering Pine Trail to Kemano Road begins today and will continue until the end of the week. Due to safety concerns for construction site staff and the public, RA Crete-Scape Ltd. is enacting a full closure for storm sewer work.

There will be no access on Orchard Heights Boulevard between the two side streets until next week.

A detour plan and construction signs have been posted, and those with questions or concerns can contact Norman Whitley, construction projects administrator, at 905-727-3123.

Drivers should also be aware of the upcoming road construction taking place on Yonge Street between Bloomington Road and Industrial Parkway South, beginning Aug. 7; it is expected to last until late September.

York Region has stated construction will be done only a few hundred metres on any given day, with the location moving throughout the construction period.

Temporary restrictions will be in place, including two southbound lanes and one northbound will be open between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., one lane in each direction will be open between 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and two northbound lanes and one southbound will be open between 3:30 and 7 p.m.
