Current King Township Mayor Steve Pellegrini has secured four more years for the third time.
King Township officially acclaimed incumbent Mayor Pellegrini on July 30 as he runs unchallenged for the mayor's seat in the upcoming municipal election.
The municipal election registration closed on July 27. The township announced official acclamation and certification for King council positions at 4 p.m. on July 30.
The incumbent mayor will serve on his third term as the township mayor in the coming term of King Township council.
“I’m very humbled,” said Pellegrini. “A lot has been going on in this municipality. A lot of hard work done by staff and council.”
Pellegrini won a tough, four-way fight in 2010 to take the township’s top political job for the first time. He went unchallenged four years later when re-seeking the mayor’s seat.
"I have a few things not quite finished that I wanted to complete,” Pellegrnir said.
Getting ready to serve King for another four years, Pellegrini said he’ll focus on business growth, the new municipal office, the library and seniors centre expansion project, as well as road beautification in the township.
At the same time, 14 candidates are vying for six seats for the township council.
