Drivers who use Huntington Road to travel through Vaughan’s west end when Highway 27 and Highway 50 get clogged are going to be bummed.
Link427, the consortium carrying out the $616-million expansion of Highway 427, is permanently closing the stretch of road between East's Corners Boulevard and Major Mackenzie Drive on June 30.
The closure is driven by the 6.6-kilometre extension of Highway 427, from Highway 7, north to Major Mackenzie Drive.
In addition to the long-awaited extension, a 15.5-km stretch of designated high occupancy toll (HOT) lanes with electronic tolling is being installed in both directions, from Highway 409 to Rutherford Road.
Hwy. 427 extension through Vaughan will require 11 road closures
