Stay Cool: Five fun splash pads in York Region

Check out these splash pads in Richmond Hill, Whitchurch-Stouffville, Newmarket, Georgina and Thornhill

There are several splash pads in York Region to help people beat the heat during the summer months. Here are five.

1. Lake Wilcox Park -- Richmond Hill

Make a splash at Lake Wilcox Park or enjoy some of the other features including a waterfront promenade, playground, washrooms, seating and picnic area. Located at 55 Olde Bayview Ave. All Richmond Hill splash pads are open until Sept. 10, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Make a splash at Newmarket's Canada 150th maple leaf-themed splash pad
York Region Pools & Splash Pads

Enjoy views of Musselman’s Lake while cooling off in the splash pad. Coultice Park opened last year and features a playground, picnic area, parking, washrooms, basketball court, ball hockey court and outdoor fitness equipment. Located at 14769 Ninth Line, Whitchurch-Stouffville.

3. Frank Stronach Park -- Newmarket

A new Canada themed splash pad has opened on Memorial Circle in Newmarket, with a design that represents the growth of a maple tree. Frank Stronach Park also has a number of other amenities including a playground, sports fields, seasonal washrooms and parking lot.

4. Whipper Watson Park -- Georgina

Play on the splash pad, or enjoy the other features including ball diamond, basketball courts, beach volleyball, playground, picnic shelter, and tennis court. Located at 153 Carrick Ave. in Keswick. Splash pads are open daily. 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. from mid-June to mid-September (weather permitting).

5. North Thornhill Community Centre -- Thornhill (Vaughan)

Cool off in this large splash pad, or enjoy the other amenities including a playground, soccer field, tennis courts and community centre at 300 Pleasant Ridge Ave. Open daily June 1 to Labour Day, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends in May and September.
