Many of Markham’s movers and shakers came out to celebrate the official grand opening of the Toronto Marriott Markham hotel, located in the heart of Markham's downtown.

Guests were treated to a white carpet soiree featuring culinary food and drink stations featuring Chef Bill Jewer’s Can-Asian inspired menu, watched aerial dance performances, as artist Olga Pancova painted with fire and checked out the Sentimentalists. Canadian musical stars Aion Clarke and Juno Award winner Jully Black had the crowd grooving well into the evening.

Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Christopher Bratty, president of land development for Remington Group, and Don Cleary, president of Marriott Canada, provided opening remarks.

The Toronto Marriott Markham is located centrally in the $3-billion, European-inspired downtown community project being developed by Remington Developments.

Offering a gateway to an urban art experience, designer shopping, top restaurant selections and progressive and state-of-the-art technology, it has 209 guest rooms and 11 suites, along with over 9,500 square feet of meeting space.
