Boomerang Health Celebrates 5 Year Anniversary & Expansion

Boomerang Health, an interdisciplinary healthcare centre operated by SickKids, celebrated its five-year anniversary on May 10. They also unveiled their new expansion, which will enhance community-based services in York Region. There was a ribbon cutting ceremony, tour of the facility and two patient families were available for interviews to share why Boomerang health has been a critical resource on their journey through navigating the healthcare system for a child with autism and a child with a neurological disorder. Boomerang Health provides a variety of health services, which include general and specialist paediatric services, as well as rehabilitation and developmental services, to children and youth in York Region and beyond. This model of healthcare delivery by SickKids was originally established to provide high quality care closer to home. Having all of the services in one location and being an extension of SickKids, provides convenience and instills trust. Offering rehabilitation and developmental sessions on evenings and weekends, as well as during the day allows families to book appointments at times that work for them, eliminating a barrier to healthcare.
