His last day as Vaughan’s Fire Chief was May 31, 2018. Chief Bentley is a seasoned veteran of the Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service (VFRS). After joining the VFRS in 1979, Chief Bentley was promoted to the rank of captain in 1990, platoon chief in 1996, deputy fire chief in 2006 and fire chief in 2013. “I'm going to miss the people most of all, firefighters are a great group of people to be around on a daily basis,” said Bentley. Chief Bentley was the first Vaughan firefighter to be promoted to the role of fire chief, which speaks to his demonstrated leadership, deep commitment for the men and women in uniform and his love for his community.
