Three Vaughan natives are finally seeing their musical ambitions realized.

The members of alternative rock band Stuck On Planet Earth have signed an exclusive worldwide recording contract with independent Toronto label Anthem.

Stuck On Planet Earth includes: Adam Bianchi (vocals and guitar), Al Capo (vocals and bass) and Andrew Testa (drums). The band formed in 2007.

“It was a long time coming,” Al Capo said.

He pointed out the band endured times when they played shows to practically nobody. They had low lows and high highs, he said, “like when you are sleeping on someone’s floor in Reno, Nev., with cats and mice,” Capo said. ”It’s not for everybody.”

This recording deal will enable them to put out their debut record, which was previously difficult to do when they were responsible for all of their own marketing, Capo and Bianchi said.

The band’s latest single, Permanent, was hailed as one of the Top 3 Songs in Ontario That You Need to Hear, for the month of November, by CBC Rock, and was featured as SOCAN’s Song of the Week in January 2018. The single has also received numerous features on rock stations across the country, including Alan Cross’s Undiscovered Gem of the Week on 102.1 The Edge.

“I think we have to work harder now,” Bianchi said but added the recording deal will provide a support system and resources, including marketing. They have recorded three songs for their debut album already.

“This is a big deal for us,” Bianchi said. “We’re just a bunch of Vaughan boys that made this happen.”

They will be recording at a studio in Woodbridge this summer. “Eating Italian paninis for lunch or maybe going home for lunch,” Bianchi said.

The three musicians now live in Toronto.

Bianchi's advice to young musicians?

“You can’t stop. If you believe in something, you can’t give up.”

Anthem Records was launched because of the need for a label to manage the success of Canadian prog-rock acts Rush and Max Webster.
