A medical cannabis clinic is set to open in Aurora next month.

Apollo is opening a remote clinic inside the Aurora Medical Centre on the second floor of the Hollandview Trail facility to serve York Region with medical cannabis care. This will be the third location for the expanding practice that was founded in 2013 to research the impact of medical cannabis on chronic pain.

The clinic intends to operate two days a week, Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning on June 4. Existing and new patients living in the York Region area will be accepted.

Open house sessions will be held on May 28 and May 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for those who would like to obtain more information, according to Apollo spokesperson Holly Bennett.

Those who attend can participate in free educational sessions about medical cannabis, ask questions about the clinic and book appointments.

Information on the legal medical cannabis system in Canada, how to order medicine, available products, how medical cannabis works, and the conditions and symptoms it can treat will also be discussed at the open house sessions.

Appointments can be made for initial eligibility consultations on a first-come, first-served basis.
