Approval recommended for high-rise tower in Vaughan Centre

At its May 8 Meeting, Vaughan committee of the whole considered a final report recommending approval of applications by VMC Residences III GP for official plan and zoning by-law amendments for lands at the southwest corner of Millway Avenue and Portage Parkway.
VMW Residences proposes to construct a 55-storey high-rise tower containing 631 apartment units and 570 m2 of ground-floor commercial GFA. The development includes a six-storey above-grade parking structure with active uses in the podium. A $4.5-million Section 37 agreement will contribute funds for a public art installation integrated into the architecture of the building, as well as an “iconic pedestrian bridge” in the Edgeley Pond and Park.
