The federal and provincial governments have announced spending of over $11 million to help create 75 affordable housing units in Vaughan, Ont.

The funding is being channelled through the Canada-Ontario Investment in Affordable Housing (IAH) agreement, said a media statement. York Region is contributing more than $35 million to the development.

Woodbridge Lane will feature 162 units for families, individuals and seniors, including 75 units funded by the IAH program. Highlights include indoor and outdoor play spaces for children, a rooftop garden and accessible units for people with disabilities. The facility has been designed to approach LEED standards, said the release, and will include automated building mechanical systems, bike storage and parking, a three–stream waste management system and permeable paving.
