Lap of Luxury: Most expensive homes sold in York Region in 2017

The most expensive luxury home sold in York Region last year fetched nearly $9.5 million after being on the market for almost five months. That was pretty typical for local “ultraluxury home sales” in 2017, according to Zoocasa spokesperson Mark Bernhardt.  The most expensive properties that sold (excluding vacant development and commercial farms) were listed for an average of 138.5 days and the average sale price was $7.56 million.

Here’s a peek at five of the priciest luxury homes sold last year in York Region:

21 Thornbank Rd., Vaughan, sold for $9.48 million
This 14,000-square-foot mansion, built in 2012, sits on a 1.28 acre lot near Centre Street and Yonge Street in Thornhill. Designed by architect Richard Wengle, it boasts 11-foot vaulted ceilings, heated floors, an in-ground saltwater pool, a movie theatre, indoor spa, a billiards room and more.

14280 Weston Rd., King, sold for $8.9 million
This 200-acre property features a main house, designed by architect Stephen McCasey, plus a barn, three other houses, a cottage and two-bedroom stable apartment, an arena and equestrian facility. Other highlights include a hardwood forest plus several hiking and riding trails.

16200 Keele St., King, sold for $7.6 million
This 123-acre recreational farm property in Kettleby comes complete with “an abundance” of white pine and spruce trees, rolling hills and a pond with a sandy beach. A farmhouse addition and coach house were constructed in 1988.

111 Woodland Acres, Vaughan, sold for $7.5 million
This home comes fully loaded with white oak floors, mahogany doors, an indoor pool and outdoor sitting pool, two outdoor kitchens, a great room with soaring ceilings, a two-level master bedroom with a nine-piece ensuite and a walkout to a terrace plus separate, spacious living quarters for the in-laws.

14200 Weston Rd., King, sold for $7 million
This lush 110-acre property boasts with a bright, airy, well-appointed bungalow, remodelled by architect Stephen McCasey, a Betz pool, sauna, plus two more houses all surrounding a 20-acre private lake. There are also extensive trails, two private driveways and three docks.
