On December 17th, the highly anticipated, long-waited, Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Line 1 Extension opened. Quite the crowd gathered that day to watch as the first train made its way down to Union Station in downtown Toronto. This multi-billion-dollar connection between Vaughan and Toronto is expected to carry 100, 000 passengers a year. With 8.6km of extension, this build has become one of the longest in decades and will get you to Union Station in around 43 minutes. Guests were astonished by the beauty of its completed construction. The three most northerly subway stations are the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre located at Jane and Highway 7, the Highway 407 Station located at Jane, just south of Highway 407 and the Pioneer Village Station located at Steeles Avenue West and Northwest Gate. Hours of operation from Monday to Saturday will be from 6am to 1:30am and Sunday’s from 8am to 1:30am. The City of Vaughan is thrilled with the Toronto Transit Commission Line 1 Extension as it will make commuting to the City of Toronto incredibly easier whether for work or for leisure.
