On December 1st in recognition of the International Day of people with Disabilities on December 3rd, at the Chancellor Community Centre in Woodbridge, members of the community were welcome to join Members of City Council for the Innovative Path System (IPS) launch. The Innovative Path System was first discovered by the Vaughan Council during a business mission in Italy. Proudly, the City of Vaughan is the first organization in Canada to implement the IPS. This system provides customized vocalized directional information for those with visual challenges when using the IPS. This is made possible through an electronic chip that has been installed in the tiles of the IPS. The user is then able to hear the customized messages through an electronic cane that is provided by the City of Vaughan. The Innovative Path System launch event was an exciting step forward into the future for Vaughan becoming a much more accessible city for those with disabilities.
